Essential oils are a key ingredient for mixing henna paste.  Adding essential oil will help to bring out the color in the henna.  Oils high in terpineol or “terp” are important because they help to release the deepest and darkest stains.  Art Factory has taken the guesswork out of finding the perfect oils for your henna by curating our favorites for you to pick from.

Lavender not only smells great, but is recommended for use on pregnant people and those with cancer.

Cajeput is the classic choice for henna, both for smell and effectiveness in releasing a deep, dark stain.  

Both lavender and cajeput are great options for henna artists, and if you’re not hennaing someone with special medical considerations, then either one will work perfectly, so choose the smell you like the best!
